As an avid coffee drinker, I've had many friends that are non-coffee drinkers ask me what coffees I'd recommend for them. Many of them don't drink anything more hot chocolate and some of them are tea drinkers who are looking to crossover, so I came up with a few suggestions.
For the hot chocolate drinkers, I'd recommend starting with something that is sweet and has a lot of chocolate like a White Mocha. It's an espresso and steamed milk mixed with white chocolate syrup white whipped cream on top. The sweetness really hides the espresso taste, so it's a good starting point for many non-coffee drinkers.

A similar drink as far as having the coffee tasted masked, is the Mochaccino, which is also available at many coffee shops. It's an espresso, steamed chocolate milk with milk foam. Then it's topped with whipped cream, chocolate powder and chocolate syrup drizzled on top. It has a lot of sugar and is definitely delicious.
If you actually want to taste the coffee, but still want something that isn't going to overwhelm you with coffee, you can try a Cafe Au Lait, which is simply espresso and milk. It's also a lot more healthy than the previous two options.
After those drinks, I'd work up to drinking coffee with extra sugar and cream. It'll still have the sweet, drinkable taste, but you're working your way to the ultimate experience, which is a black coffee.
For the tea drinkers, I'd suggest skipping directly to drinking the black coffee, you're going to enjoy the unique flavors and tastes that it offers.
Skip any of the coffee that you can buy at your local grocery store, most of what you can buy there is stale and flavorless. It's worth paying extra for some gourmet or specialty coffee.
It may take some experimenting, but here's a few suggestions.
For example, if you like Earl Gray tea, you should try coffee from the regions of Kenyan, Zimbabwe, Ethiopian Harrar.
If you like China Rose Petal tea, you might like Kona or Brazilian coffees.
If you like a green tea like Jasmine Blossom, Sumatra is the region that you'll want to check out.
Using cream and sugar is perfectly acceptable, but know that you're missing out on a lot of the flavor, but it's still a good place to start.
